This oil pastel drawing captures a sunset from the top of the hill near my house where I used to go with my sisters and friends. The sky is filled with vibrant orange, yellow, and blue which really capture the peaceful yet energetic feeling of those moments. I’m happy with how the trees turned out with their details and shadows adding depth to the scene and the water in the distance has a calm soothing look that balances the intensity of the sky. However I feel like the grass could have used more texture. While I added some color variation it still feels a bit flat and I think using different strokes or blending techniques could have made it look more natural and dynamic. Despite that I’m proud of how the sky and trees came out as they really capture the mood of those evenings. This drawing is a reminder of the simple beautiful moments I shared with the people I care about.
